The entire Haines Watts Service Charge Team attended a recent ARMA training course providing an overview of residential leasehold management. The course, “Introduction to Residential Property Management” is aimed at trainee property managers and was delivered by an experienced trainer and ARMA Council member, Daniel Burkinshaw.
Director Paul Jepps commented “At Haines Watts we believe that understanding the role and duties of Property Managers enables us to engage with our clients in a more meaningful way. I am confident that the training day has benefitted all the team and will be put to good use in the future.” The course included topics not normally associated with reporting accountants including, Health and safety, the First Tier Tribunal (FTT) and maintenance responsibilities for leasehold management.
Haines Watts Service Charge team specialise in the audit and certification of service charge accounts and the majority of its clients are ARMA members. In 2017 the team was crowned, “Service Charge Accountancy firm of the year” at the ARMA ACE awards. The firm is also an ARMA partner and this status requires partners to put one member of their staff through the ARMA course. Haines Watts chose to make a far greater commitment by putting the full team through the training day.
Director Gordon Whelan added,” Investment in training is central to the firm’s strategy to develop a team of professional accountants specialising in service charge accounting. As well as undergoing rigorous accountancy training we will ensure that all our accountants fully understand the sector they operate in and serve.”
