Haines Watts Service Charge were one of the winners of ARMA’s (Association of Residential Managing Agents) inaugural ACE Awards at a glittering ceremony on Friday (7th July 2017) at Tobacco Dock in London’s east end. Attended by 450 industry professionals, the awards were introduced to celebrate excellence and exceptional achievement by the UK’s leading residential managing agents, their suppliers and the work of their people in improving the lives of over a million leaseholders across the country.
Haines Watts Service Charge Team was announced as the Winner of the Service Charge Accountancy Firm of the Year category following a rigorous judging process by a panel of independent judges.
Gordon Whelan, a director of the firm said, “This award is so special to all the team. To be recognised in this way is extremely satisfying particularly when you consider the quality of the other finalists involved and the calibre of the judging panel.” Haines Watts has been involved in the certification and audit of service charge accounts for over thirty years and now have one of the largest teams of service charge accountants entirely focused on the property management sector.
Dr Nigel Glen, ARMA CEO, said: “The winners are a credit to the industry and I know what a hard job the judges had in deciding who should go home with a trophy from so many outstanding entries. The winning firms and team members are setting the standard for companies that wish to be recognised for achieving excellence and best practice in their field.”
Gordon Whelan added, “We intend to use this award now as a springboard to not only improve the value added service that we provide our existing clients but to also reinforce our message to the rest of the sector that service charge accounting is a specialist skill and that good service charge reporting is essential to effective property management”.
